celebrity ho hum and cannes (very, very late).
Is it just me or are you too getting sick of the tabloids/celebrity blogs? I don't read or go to them regularly, but when I do it's always the same: mindless buzz about Sex and the City (which I love and plan to see, but it's just an overload!), then some stupid blurb involving little-talent starts like Lauren Conrad or Miley Cyrus or Lindsay Lohan's little sister (and those are just a few examples). wtf? What is happening to this world?? I guess this whole boring-celebrity crazed culture we've got going on is partly fueled by us, people who gossip and fawn over them and sometimes even blog about them. (Which is exactly what I am planning to do right now, well the blogging part at least. Yes, I am a hypocrite. Though I WILL do you a favor and leave out the SATC stuff).
So... I have to admit that, while I find them slightly annoying, both ex-Laguna Beach girls Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari (frenemies, if I remember..Lauren causes so much gosh darn drama on TV these days) are getting to have very nice style indeed.
I like how Kristin is 'stepping out of the box' and actually experimenting with looks (this is very 70's and casual but chic to me) instead of being the Boring Bitch From The Hills.
Lauren's top is a lovely shape and makes up for the horrid leggings.
In my opinion Rachel Bilson can do no wrong, even if she is in the simplest, drabbest clothes...
And CANNES... I did not really search hard for any amazing dresses and I know a lot of other blogs have already covered this, so here are just a few dresses I liked. I loved the purple and details on Mischa & Natalie. Angelina looks like a pregnant goddess in green, and Eva is such a bombshell.

GAH. A more interesting post coming soon that is not filled with the usual celebrity humdrum.

spring fever
I tried to wear my cheap Forever 21 tunic thing two ways, both of which ended up slightly whore-ish but thats okay. I like the first one (above) better, I know the pictures are god awful but, I'm just wearing indian slippers, a white t-shirt, and tights. In the second outfit (below) I'm bare legged and wearing some floral blouse. I ended up wearing my tunic/dress to the parade with leggings (go ahead call me unfashionable, but I still wear them) and blah black sandals, with a white t-shirt underneath.
It's Cinco de Mayo today, I don't have school for some reason, and I am really happy, maybe because of the warm weather and the fact that I had a really good weekend. I hung out with my best friend on Saturday, and yesterday I went to the May Day Parade with some friends, then went to see Iron Man with other friends, then later (phew) I went to a bonfire. My weekends are almost NEVER this interesting, hahah I swear. Oh and I also saw the oldish movie Definitely Maybe and now have a new crush on Ryan Reynolds.
ummm. enough said.
I also have a girl crush (along with a million other bloggers) on Gwyneth Paltrow right now. She is adorable in Iron Man and I love how she's thirty-something with kids and still has the longest legs ever and wears stilettos and is just all around gorgeous.

bike chic: apparently it is possible
Lately everywhere you look "eco-consumerism" is all the rage, from those "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" bags everyone seems to be toting (to the left, Keira Knightley) to high-end designers making clothes with 100% organic cotton (the simple dress to the left is from Phillip Lim's Go Green Go line). I am all for people buying these wonderful products (believe me, I know you guys hear about them enough), but as much as I wish I could, I can't afford a lot of the eco-chic clothes out there, so I try to help out the environment a little by doing other things such as biking.
Spring is here and I TRY to ride my bike everywhere because a) I can't drive yet (finally taking drivers ed in fall) and b) it's good for the environment and it's free. When you picture a serious biker you may picture someone in head to toe spandex not unlike Jane Fonda here....
BUT, it does not have to be that way, as many celebs or just plain stylish people on bikes have proven. I have been to Amsterdam where it seems like EVERYONE rides a bike, and have witnessed it myself. I also find Copenhagen Style Chic to be an inspiration.. basically they take pictures of stylish women riding bikes, it may sound a little creepy but think of it as a Facehunter/Sartorialist except on BIKES! some pictures:
amazing, no?

look outside, the raincoats gone, say oh!
This dress I just kinda found in my house when I was cleaning it. The necklace is very modest and almost nun-like. It kinda reminded me of Chloe Sevigny's Opening Ceremony clothing line- which I like to call, "nun chic" (in a good way of course). Except my dress was def not as great as any of her clothes.. sigh
I think I may be addicted to florals... this skirt is United Colors of Benetton and I love it, its kinda see thru though.
Oh and I was tagged by Suburban Style
MY UNSPECTACULAR QUIRKS.
1. I have gone to a couple parties but I am secretly more of a homebody. On weekends I love to bake, though usually it's from a cooking mix, and make collages, watch DVD's, hang with a friend, read... I guess you could say I'm pretty laid back (or lame, you choose).
2. Sometimes I find myself thinking about sex at the most inopportune times (for example, during a class lecture... awkward much?!!)
3. I have about twenty unfinished stories on my computer. I love to write fiction, I just can't seem to get past the first 10-20 pages.
4. I hate repeating outfits and I try to make each one different, even if it's only a slightly different accessory.
5. I listen to a lottt of random mismatched music, from The Beatles to Lil Wayne to Beirut to Bob Dylan to jazz. And I'm diggin Diana Ross and the Supremes.
6. I can't realistically picture myself as an adult or even driving a car, mostly because I am horribly absentminded and irresponsible at times :/ I usually don't think twice before I do (or say) things.
Ha, I don't feel like tagging anyone so I'll just tag all of you! Just do this, you don't even have to link me. It's kind of liberating letting the whole world see all your stupid confessions.
